Course Overview

This course equips Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) engineers and technicians with the knowledge and practical competence required to work safely and compliantly in hazardous and offshore environments. The program aligns with CompEx EX01–EX06, IEC 60079, IECEx, and ATEX standards.

  1. Hazardous Area & Ex Fundamentals — Area classification, gas groups, temperature classes, types of protection
  2. Electrical Systems Scoping & Assessment — Offshore electrical systems, inspection of panels, junction boxes, cable trays
  3. Electrical Safety, Isolation & Testing — Permit-to-work, LOTO systems, zero-energy isolation, voltage and earthing tests
  4. Rope Access for E&I Operations — Rope access principles for E&I tasks, working at height in hazardous areas
  5. Cables, Glands & Terminations — LV, MV, HV, and instrumentation cables, Ex-approved glands
  6. Junction Boxes & Drawings Interpretation — Schematics, wiring, loop, and termination drawings
  7. Intrinsic Safety & Inspection — IS principles, barriers, visual and detailed Ex inspections
  8. Documentation, QA & Reporting — Inspection records, cable schedules, QA/QC compliance
